Going back to college

I'm in the process of applying to our local county college to study Health Information Technology. I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work in 1998 from a 4-year university but if you've read any of my posts regarding employment, you already know that SW just wasn't my thing. After working in that field for 7 years, then becoming a stay-at-home-mom, and exploring several options, I've decided to give H I T a go. This is a growing field and with the emergence of the electronic medical record, I'm hopeful that more opportunities for people who are functionally blind will become available.
So, having said all that, I hope to have my act together in time to start the spring semester in January. I don't think that'll be a problem.
I'm going to take an intro to H I T course and probably a remedial math course. I'm really dreading the math course because when I went through college the first time, I substituted a logic class for college algebra. This was back in the days before accessible scientific calculators etc so don't judge. lol Actually one of my recurring nightmares is that they come take my degree away because I didn't take college algebra the first time so in a way, it'll be nice to conquer that little mountain. I am absolutely not a math person so I'm petrified about this class. That's one reason I'm looking forward to getting it over with. It's a prerequiset for the A&P class I plan to take this summer. I know, I know, at the rate I'm going, it'll take forever before I'm finished but hey, ya gotta start somewhere, right?
Speaking of A&P, there's a lab required with that class where we'll have to dissect stuff. How have yall handled that? The last time I was in a sience lab was in the 10th grade, probably before most of yall were even born. lol Again, back then the theory was that since I was blind I couldn't be expected to do anything more than write a report. I couldn't have cared less about dissecting a frog back then so I really didn't press the issue. All that to say, so much has changed since I was last in school. I would love feedback from any of you who have taken college algebra and/or anatomy and physiology as to what adaptations you used and found most helpful.
Thanks for reading.
